The February 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Aparna of My Diverse Kitchen and Deeba of Passionate About Baking. They chose Tiramisu as the challenge for the month. Their challenge recipe is based on recipes from The Washington Post, Cordon Bleu at Home and Baking Obsession. And this really was a challenge! It was time consuming with so many different parts (and a few disasters!) but the result was really delicious. I will make this recipe again – except next time I think i’ll just buy the mascarpone. 🙂  Thank you to the hosts for a great challenge!

Introducing the Red Velvet Cupcake….especially for Valentine’s Day. 🙂  I dug this recipe out of  a wonderful blog by talented foodie Nicole, Pinch My Salt.  Everytime I visit her blog, I drool and add a recipe to a ‘to make asap’ list. So after a hectic couple of weeks in college (it has been a slow blogging month!), I let the slow cooker take care of dinner and got the mixing bowl out! These cupcakes are very, well, red, but taste of chocolate, so it’s all a bit confusing to your senses. I loved them and everyone who tasted them had more than one. So that must be a good sign. 🙂
