I’m Arlene and this is my blog. I’m a physicist, a wine drinker and a cake eater, and I also like a good stew.
I’m a postgrad student based in the west of Ireland. At the moment, I’m writing my thesis. This involves alot of faffing about and general procrastination, so I have taken to experimenting in the kitchen. I love home-baked cakes (you’ll see lots of those) and I’m trying to become more adventurous in my ‘regular’ cooking (so you might see some savoury items popping up now and then!).
I bake mainly in the evenings, so the ‘step-by-step’ photos are taken under dodgy lighting – a fancy new DSLR will be my gift to myself when I finish
Thanks for stopping by! If you like what you see, leave a comment! I’d love to hear from you

I’m making mini puddings for the first time this year, having used Delia’s recipe for many years (and it has never let me down!) Couldn’t find cooking time for small puds in any of my books, so many thanks. Merry Christmas!
Great! Hope they turn out well for you! Merry Christmas
Nice to meet you Ariene
A lot of my baking gets done at night too, so I hardly do step -by-steps due to the dodgy lighting issue as well. Glad to know I have company!
I’m enjoying reading through your blog, Arleen! A fancy DSLR is also on my wish list!!
wonderful blog.
You’re great!
